I understand that Jade is a scientist, but having played through Abyss more than once, he never struck me as the type who would kill himself for science. I don't see this changing even if he were reasonably sure he'd come back.

Would you mind explaining your thought process with this?

Well, I hadn't planned on doing it if I didn't think Jade would be capable of doing it. My main thoughts were with his own scientific experiences in the past, most of the ones when he was a child, and how all of them boiled down to the fact that Jade uses himself as his own test subject. He doesn't like risking others' lives, but he only values his own body to a point--he likes to keep it in top shape and devoid of injury and illness when he can help it, but he'd rather practice on himself than on another if he truly wants an answer. He's not the type to do an experiment without the confidence of knowing he'd be alright, but that risk is always there for most of his battles. When it comes to fighting and even being in the military, that's all a direct risk on his life despite the fact that he's sure he would win. I figured that since Jade was within 100% confidence on knowing that he would return after 'death', he would try and see what exactly happened, mentally on top of physically, during that point of revival.
