Do the seasons always pass this quickly? The time flying by so quickly is just draining this old man's energy. I'm not sure if I can keep up.

[Says the man who's returned from yet another venturing into the routes and hasn't so much as broken a sweat.]

It's interesting to think that we've just reached the tenth month of the year and the season is still quite warm. I can't say I'm used to such heated weather, but I imagine it could be far worse. I do wonder how the winter will fare in such a town. Perhaps I'll actually take on that gym badge challenge. How difficult would one say those are?

[Not like it will be difficult, but he's wondering other opinions on it.]

Ah, another brief inquiry, if I may. Was Luke fon Fabre who demolished the lighthouse ever turned into the authorities, or did the young delinquent manage to escape? [That's his way of checking up on him.]

[As Jade can see, he's already moving. The man's on a mission now.]

[And with that, Jade smirks, but he soon begins looking around because he's actually kinda hungry.] It seems nearly lunch time.
Choose a restaurant.

[The moving screen comes to a dead stop. It's a good thing Jade can't see his face at first, because he's pretty shocked. He was expecting to have to hunt Jade down, and here he is offering to actually meet him somewhere.

The screen focuses on Dist's feet for a few more moments before he properly holds the 'Gear again.]

There is a rather good restaurant right by the Pokemon Center, the Golden Magikarp. You can't miss it.

[It's because you're paying, Dist.]

The Golden Magikarp? How... dignified.

[Of all the pokémon. He just chuckles. Really, between sending Saphir on a wild goose chase to find him for his own mindless amusement and making him buy curry where he could take a walking break for a while, he's decided on the latter. He'll just let his mouth do all the moving for him.

Those two minutes are looking more like 10 seconds.]

[He should've seen that coming.]

Believe me, I was not thrilled by the name myself. However, their food is acceptable.

Acceptable? So if I'm poisoned, I'll know for certain that you were at fault.

[Good to know! :D Now hurry up already!]

I've eaten there several times, but do I look ill at all to you?

[Then he considers who he's talking to.]

On second thought, don't answer that. I'll be there in a few minutes.

[BAHAHAHA. But even with this, Jade's smirking. HE'S ANSWERING ANYWAY, YOUR DICK-FREE MINUTES ARE UP.]

I worry for you, Saphir. I'm not quite sure how long we'll manage to make it through dinner as I'm quite worried for your well being. We may need to admit you to a pokémon center.

[NO. BAD JADE.]

[CLICKING OFF THE 'GEAR NOW because he can't deal with this. But of course he still actually shows up at the restaurant because clearly he wants more mocking.]

[That's okay, Saphir. You're just tsun for Jade, Jade can accept this. But the older man is already at the restaurant, reading a little book on ghost type pokémon during his wait. Once Saphir shows up, he smiles.]

You've made it safe and sound, I see. I feared you would have been whisked away by the Drifloom, I heard they have a tendency to spirit away foolish children.

[Don't cry, Saphir. It will only get worse.]

[Despite having spoken to him several times over the 'Gear, seeing Jade in person again sends a small chill down Dist's spine. A twinge of excitement, perhaps? The last time they were in the same location, Jade said his final farewell and Dist thought he was about to die.

And now here they are, together again.

He rigidly sits down across from Jade, resisting every urge ever to reach over and throttle him.]

Enough with the jokes, Jade. I am far from being a child.

[And he pauses after that, because he doesn't know what to say. "It's good to see you again Jade" isn't exactly something he wants to admit, even to himself.]

[And once again, Jade finds himself in Dist's company, feeling this disturbing, disgusting sensation of relief. Seeing Dist safe and here was... unexpected, certainly, but... relief?

There must be some sort of hidden drug in his water if he's even the least bit relieved. But he does put the book down, smiling that sickeningly sweet smile as he looks at him.]

Yes, yes, of course. Physically.

[He folds his hands together, leaning back a bit in his seat. Screw the formalities, it's time to talk business.]

Tell me, Saphir, how long have you been here?

[He chooses to ignore the age comment for now and focus on Jade's question.]

It has been about four months if you go by this world's calendar. I have spent the majority of my time in Goldenrod since.

[Naturally he's not going to provide all the details as to why, but...]

In Goldenrod... Not quite ready to venture out of your comfort zone?

[Also known as: Why haven't you gone anywhere else yet?]

Correct. I prefer the amount of resources this city has. The department store is full of interesting items; I have been working toward obtaining all of the particularly intriguing ones.

[See? He did have some actual facts to back it up with without having to provide all the details. He really does want to nab all the interesting evolution items at some point.]

But I have considered exploring at some point. I've taken the magnet train to Saffron City a few times so far.

Intriguing? How so?

[Wow, you've gotten better. Jade smiles; he's actually insanely interested now.]

Saffron City... In Kanto, correct? For the curiosity of taking the train or did you have business there? I can't imagine it being the first one.

[Good thing Jade's interested because Dist is going to ramble a bit.]

Have you had a chance to look around in there? The evolution-triggering items are both mysterious and fascinating.

[He pulls out one he's been carrying around for a while, a Shiny Stone, and sets it on the table to show Jade.]

I've enjoyed figuring out which items can be applied to which Pokemon, although what I'd really like to know is how they work. How does a simple item cause a creature's molecular structure to completely change on contact?

[After that speech of sorts, he pushes his glasses up.] As for Saffron...it was a little of both. I wanted to visit the Silph Company. They are the ones responsible for most of the Poke Balls, healing items and TMs in the two regions.

[As the stone is presented, Jade pulls off his gloves and reaches over to cautiously hold it up, examining the surface layers and the weight of it as Dist speaks.]

You've been busy, I see. [He sets the stone down, then glances back up.] Well, for the stone, I can only imagine there's some sort of energy held into it, or a reaction upon contact.

Were you able to visit the Silph Company? What did you find there?

Yes. When I'm not studying peculiar Pokemon, I'm looking at the items they interact with. [And y'know, when he's not in the middle of building horrible Team Rocket projects.] But yes, I agree completely. It is likely a combination of both that particular Pokemon's genetics react to.

[As for the subject of Silph, he sighs.] Depressingly little, unfortunately. It seems that most of the interesting information is restricted to employees.

Why am I not surprised? [Eying the stone again for a moment.] Now I'm oddly curious as to what sort of latent power these stones hold. Each one impacts the genetics differently, correct? Yet the evolutions work in the same fashion... So they're not as different as previously assumed.

[Jade just shakes his head. Figures it would be another restricted end. Thankfully, those can be worked around.] You should pick up new occupation. You've got a trade skill in creation, do you not? Or did this world rob you of that? Get a job.

That is indeed an interesting thing about the stones. No matter what type or species is affected, the actual process is similar. [Now he's going to produce a Metal Coat.] With other evolutionary items, I am of the opinion that the item changes and merges with the Pokemon in question during evolution, although I haven't found a foolproof way to prove it yet. The glowing during evolution obscures that actual transformation. It's extremely frustrating if you ask me.

[Wait, get a job? Dist frowns. Oh Jade, if only you knew... Time for more vague responses!] I would consider it if I wasn't already employed here in Goldenrod.
